The Argentina national team defeated Nigeria 4-0 in the Round of 16 match held at Santiago Stadium during the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile, advancing to the quarterfinals while Nigeria was eliminated from the tournament.
Argentina’s goals were scored by Alejo Sarco (2′), Maher Carrizo (two goals at 23′ and 53′), and Mateo Silvetti (66′).
Argentina opened the scoring quickly, just one minute into the match, when Alejo Sarco netted a goal following a cross from Dylan Gorosito. This was the fastest goal so far in Chile 2025, amid clear confusion from Nigerian goalkeeper Ebenezar Harcourt. Maher Carrizo added a second goal with a brilliant free kick just before halftime.
At the start of the second half, Argentina extended their lead with a third goal by Carrizo again, assisted by Milton Delgado, and Mateo Silvetti sealed the 4-0 victory with a final goal assisted by Daniel Pamiézi.
With this result, Argentina advances to the quarterfinals, where they will face Mexico early Sunday morning.
