The robot “Optimus” from Tesla appeared on the red carpet at the world premiere of the sci-fi film “Tron: Ares,” showcasing its kung fu skills in a playful face-off with actor and musician Jared Leto.

Social media users circulated a video showing “Optimus” performing specially designed kung fu moves, with Leto responding playfully before ending the scene with a smile, garnering millions of views within hours and sparking a wave of humorous comments.

Tesla’s official account on X tweeted: “They tried to start a fight at the Tron: Ares premiere,” while Elon Musk, Tesla’s billionaire CEO, supported the post saying: “Optimus at the Tron premiere.”

This appearance is part of a collaboration between Tesla, Disney, and Elon Musk’s xAI platform, aiming to integrate generative AI technologies into interactive fan experiences related to the film, which premieres on October 10 and explores humanity’s first encounter with a sentient AI.

However, hours before the event, Tesla was surprised by a lawsuit filed by Peter Hinterdobler, a former Tesla robot mechanic, in the Alameda County Superior Court. He accused the company of negligence after being attacked by “Optimus” during a maintenance shift last February, which caused him to lose consciousness.
