On Wednesday, former US President Donald Trump stated that the Democratic Mayor of Chicago and the Governor of Illinois should be in jail, escalating his attacks on his political opponents.
Trump wrote on his platform Truth Social, “The Mayor of Chicago (Brandon Johnson) should be in jail for failing to protect Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents,” adding, “and Governor (J.B.) Pritzker too!”
The Republican president’s remarks come amid the two officials’ opposition to his orders requesting Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to carry out raids targeting immigrants in Chicago.
