The Tunisian Chamber of Commerce and Industry reported that, as part of supporting Tunisian exports of ready-made garments to the European Union, the EU adopted Executive Decision No. 1459 of 2025 dated July 24, 2025, aiming to grant exceptional differential treatment to ready-made garments of Tunisian origin.
It added in a statement published today Wednesday on its official Facebook page that this is based on detailed origin rules relying on the single transformation criterion.
It pointed out that these exceptions apply for five years, starting retroactively from January 22, 2025, and will remain in effect until December 31, 2029.
In this context, the Tunisian Customs issued Memorandum No. 25 of 2025 dated September 1, 2025, titled “On the Commencement of Applying the Exceptional Detailed Origin Rules for Tunisian Ready-Made Garment Exports to the European Union.”
The Chamber stated that the exceptional detailed origin rules allow granting Tunisian differential origin to ready-made garments manufactured from fabrics not originating in Europe (Tissu d’origine Hors CEE), through cutting and sewing operations.
