Today, Wednesday, marks the start of the ninth round of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, with 11 matches that could determine the fate of several teams.
The highlight of the round is the match between Egypt and Djibouti:
The Pharaohs are on the verge of direct qualification, needing only a win to secure the top spot and officially advance, while Djibouti aims to perform honorably against one of the continent’s giants.
Meanwhile, Cape Verde only needs a draw against Libya to qualify officially from Group 4, leading by 4 points over Cameroon.

It is noteworthy that four Arab teams top their groups in the African qualifiers for the upcoming 2026 World Cup, to be held in Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
These teams are Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia.
Morocco had already officially secured its qualification to the 2026 World Cup after thrashing Niger 5-0.
Tunisia also officially qualified for the 2026 World Cup after defeating Equatorial Guinea 1-0 away.
