Zamalek men’s handball team drew 28-28 against Sharjah from the UAE in the second match to determine fifth and sixth places at the Handball Club World Championship hosted by Egypt from September 26 to October 2 this year. The matches took place at the club hall in the New Administrative Capital under the slogan “Egypt welcomes the world… from continents to the New Administrative Capital,” securing fifth place.
In their first encounter to determine rankings, Zamalek defeated Sharjah 29-26.
Meanwhile, Al Ahly will face Germany’s Magdeburg in the bronze medal match.
Al Ahly failed to reach the final after losing to Barcelona 26-21 in the semifinal two days ago, while Veszprém, featuring four Egyptian players, will face Barcelona to determine the champion.
Al Ahly qualified for the semifinals despite losing to Hungary’s Veszprém 31-22, thanks to qualifying as the best runner-up after a big win over Australia’s Sydney 41-14 in the tournament’s opening match.
