Wael El Qabbani, former Zamalek star, confirmed that the White Knights faced unusual bad luck against Al Ahly in the 131st summit match held yesterday at Cairo Stadium, where the Red Giants managed to overturn a 1-0 first-half deficit to win 2-1 in the second half.
El Qabbani said in statements to Soham Saleh on the Clasico program on ON TV: Zamalek was unlucky against Al Ahly and missed many chances, and was able to finish the match early within the first 10 minutes through two one-on-one chances by Addi El-Dabbagh and Nasser Maher.
The former Zamalek football director added: The entire Al Ahly crowd was afraid of losing to Zamalek, and Ferreira, the White Knights’ coach, questions the loss because he did not study Al Ahly well.
He continued: In the second half, Zamalek retreated unjustifiably and their substitutions were very late. Zamalek does not have the luxury of changing the coach currently due to the financial crisis, and I believe the board does not consider changing the technical staff despite the loss to Al Ahly, especially since Zamalek faces financial problems and debts and is unable to bring a new foreign coach to the team.
