A source revealed the behind-the-scenes details of the exclusion of Angolan player Chico Banza from Zamalek’s squad in the derby match against Al Ahly, which ended with Al Ahly winning 2-1.
The source confirmed that during the last training session, a verbal altercation occurred between Zamalek’s head coach Yannick Ferreira and Chico Banza, ending with the player gesturing with his hand towards the coach.
The details of the dispute stemmed from Chico Banza refusing to sit on the bench during the derby match, which caused sadness and anger for the player.
The source pointed out that in the last training session, Ferreira excluded the player from the scrimmage, relying instead on Addy El-Dabbagh, Adam Kaid, and Juan Bezera, which led the player to object to the coach’s decision.
Ferreira excluded Chico Banza from the match squad following this dispute.
Zamalek’s management is currently considering imposing a penalty on the player after he caused a crisis before the derby match.
