Director Karim El Shenawy is eagerly awaiting the release of his new film “Al-Sada Al-Afadel” in cinemas soon. He explained that he wished to make a comedy film, and the script was written by Mostafa Saqr, Mohamed Ezz El-Din, and Abdelrahman Gawish. He added, “From the beginning of our discussions about the film two and a half years ago, there was great enthusiasm for the idea. They took their time writing it, and I do not expect any predetermined results or audience reactions, but I hope it will be well received.”

Regarding the popular success of the film “Di”, El Shenawy told Al-Shorouk newspaper: “We had been trying to make the film for a long time, and I am happy it came to light last year. My happiness doubled with its commercial screening this year and the very good audience reception it has received.”

He added: “From the first day of screening ‘Di’, we felt it would be liked by the audience. The voice of artist Mohamed Mounir is essentially an important part of the film; he is the ‘voice of the journey.’ Mounir’s voice is beloved and familiar to us, and the authenticity of this voice is the soul of the film’s story. Mounir’s presence in the film is not just a passing scene but a fundamental part of it; the film cannot be presented without the king Mohamed Mounir.”

Regarding the film winning several awards at film festivals, Karim El Shenawy said: “I am happy to participate in artistic festivals, but I do not make films specifically for festivals. I like to make films for people to watch and enjoy commercially.”

The director Karim El Shenawy is keen to attend theatrical festivals due to his love for theater and his belief that they are a good opportunity to see a large number of performances, talents, and new ideas. Recently, El Shenawy attended the opening of the third edition of the Isis International Women’s Theater Festival, held on September 25 at the Samer Theater in Agouza.

He said: “I might direct a theatrical play, but theater already has many distinguished directors. I prefer to watch theatrical performances because I love this art.”
