Al-Shorta lost to Qatar’s Al-Gharafa 2-0 in the second round of the group stage of the AFC Champions League held at Khalifa International Stadium.
The first half ended goalless, but early in the second half, Al-Gharafa scored their first goal through Josilo in the 48th minute, followed by a second goal by player Ferjani Sassi in the 54th minute.
Al-Shorta faced the absence of three key players in the match against Al-Gharafa: Amir Sabah, who suffered a health issue and did not travel with the team; Salem Ahmed, sidelined due to a hamstring injury; and Brazilian professional Lucas Moses, who sustained a serious injury in the previous match against Norouz.
