Walid Sadri, President of the Algerian Football Federation, confirmed during his meeting with the Federal Office members at the National Technical Center in Sidi Moussa, Algeria, that qualifying the national team for the 2026 World Cup finals in the USA, Canada, and Mexico is the federation’s main goal.
In his opening speech at the monthly meeting with the Federal Office members, Sadri discussed several strategic topics related to national football, including international competitions for various national teams, especially the qualification of the senior national team for the 2026 World Cup, which is a primary objective for the Algerian Football Federation. He emphasized the importance of this goal due to its positive impact on the development of national football, especially after the team’s absence from the last two World Cups (2018 and 2022).
Sadri stressed the necessity for the football community, media, and fans to show ideal mobilization and provide increased support to the “Desert Warriors” to raise the nation’s flag high in the most prestigious football stadiums worldwide.
Regarding professional clubs, Sadri stated that the sporting success of any club depends not only on the talent of its players or the skills of its technical staff but also on the quality of its management and governance. The Algerian Football Federation will continue to support clubs to strengthen their transition to strict management that ensures stability and creates a favorable environment for performance.
He emphasized that improving club management is not optional but a necessity. It is the only way to build sustainable sports and economic projects, compete with major teams internationally, and meet the expectations of fans who want to see their club achieve excellence.
In this context, administrative oversight is tasked with playing an important role in ensuring financial balance and administrative transparency of clubs, guaranteeing their sustainability and competitiveness. It will also contribute to improving club governance and holding leaders accountable for financial violations such as excessive debts or uncontrolled spending that undermine stability. Actions will be taken at the end of the season against clubs that fail to make necessary efforts to improve their conditions.
At the end of his speech, Sadri, on behalf of the Federal Office, expressed sincere thanks to the staff of the General Secretariat of the Algerian Football Federation and all league officials for their mobilization, exemplary commitment, and joint efforts, which enabled the start of various national championships under excellent conditions. This success reflects the collective desire to promote and develop football across the country. The president encouraged everyone to continue this positive momentum to ensure the success of the sports season and meet the aspirations of youth and all football fans. Finally, he wished a speedy recovery to Mr. Djilali Salmi, a former international player currently facing health issues, whom the president visited a few days ago to check on his condition.
