On Monday, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamal Badari, announced the allocation of 5900 financial positions for the upcoming competition for resident doctors scheduled for the end of October.
During his appearance on the “First Channel Forum” of the National Radio, Badari revealed the allocation of 5900 financial positions for the resident doctors’ competition planned for the end of October, compared to 3300 financial positions in 2022, an increase of 34%, reflecting, as he said, “the state’s great efforts to improve the quality of education and training.”
Regarding the recruitment of professors, Badari noted that the process “is ongoing until reaching 4112 positions before the end of the year.”
The minister also announced financial support for students with final models of innovative projects ranging between 1 and 2 million Algerian dinars, aiming to encourage entrepreneurial spirit in universities to support the national orientation towards a strong, smart, and developed economy.
Badari highlighted the Algerian university’s efforts to meet societal needs, advance the national economy, and protect national sovereignty by “relying on digitization, artificial intelligence, integrating humanities, social sciences, technological and exact sciences, alongside encouraging entrepreneurship and business leadership.” He recalled the establishment of entrepreneurial environments in various universities and research institutions and financial support for students with final innovative project models.
The minister pointed out the creation of 2800 micro-enterprises, 1400 start-ups, and 480 subsidiaries, in addition to achieving 3400 patents. He also mentioned the project of locally designed electronic chips at 100% and the electric car project, whose first model will be announced in March 2026.
In a related context, he emphasized the important role of the university in preserving national sovereignty by achieving food, water, health, energy, and cybersecurity security through transforming research results into products and services that create wealth and add value to the national economy.
Regarding new specializations included in higher education programs, the minister explained that 24 new specializations were approved specifically for the baccalaureate in literature and humanities, alongside the inclusion of the subject “Ethics of Artificial Intelligence” in all training paths related to this field, and other subjects related to “free software and AI tools,” as well as “nationalism and Algerian history.” Additionally, training paths were established in the field of corruption prevention and combating, with the first batch expected to graduate in June 2026.
