Hussein El Shahat, the midfield star of Al Ahly, successfully rediscovered his form after a long absence from brilliance with an unforgettable impact in the Cairo Derby and the 131st summit between Al Ahly and Zamalek in the 9th round of the 2025-2026 Egyptian Premier League season.

El Shahat was named Man of the Match due to his contribution as a substitute, which made a difference on the pitch and gave Al Ahly full dominance during the last 20 minutes.

He scored a beautiful goal in the 70th minute and then earned a penalty from which Trezeguet, the left winger, scored the second goal, leading Al Ahly to a 2-1 victory over Zamalek.

Walid Salah El-Din, Al Ahly’s football director, is expected to start negotiations with Hussein El Shahat in the coming days to renew his contract for at least two more seasons, given his impressive performance in the Zamalek summit.

El Shahat had suffered from bad luck and a lack of brilliance in recent months, and there was controversy about his possible departure from Al Ahly before he shone in the 131st summit, scored a goal, and led the Devils to a precious victory.
