US Senator Lindsey Graham called on Hamas to accept President Donald Trump’s plan to end the war in Gaza, expressing hope to see a new Middle East embracing normalization between Israel and regional countries.

Graham wrote on his X platform account: “I strongly hope Hamas agrees to President Trump’s proposal to end the conflict in Gaza, which includes the release of all hostages.”

He added: “As for a new Middle East embracing normalization between Israel and the region, I hope that day comes.”

Graham considered that “normalization in the Middle East will not be possible with Hezbollah present,” saying: “Normalization in the Middle East can only happen by removing Hezbollah from the negotiating table,” adding: “The Middle East cannot be normal with Hezbollah present, as this group is a religiously extremist terrorist organization, stained with American blood, and committed to destroying Israel.”

The US senator concluded his post addressing regional countries: “If you want normalization, disarm Hezbollah one way or another.”

US President Donald Trump announced, in a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, a comprehensive 20-point plan to end the war in Gaza, called the “Trump Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict.”

The plan calls for an immediate ceasefire and phased withdrawal of Israeli forces in exchange for the release of all hostages, followed by the release of Palestinian prisoners.

The plan also includes comprehensive reconstruction of infrastructure and hospitals with international support, and Gaza to be governed by a temporary transitional government through a non-political technocratic Palestinian committee responsible for managing public services and municipalities.

The committee consists of qualified Palestinians and international experts, supervised by the international “Peace Council” chaired by Trump and other leaders, with an international stabilization force overseeing security and disarmament of factions. It also calls for amnesty for Hamas members willing to disarm or leave, and prohibits Hamas and other factions from participating in governance.

According to the White House, the plan paves the way for Gaza’s economic rebuilding and transformation into a safe and prosperous area, potentially leading to a path toward Palestinian self-determination.

This plan comes after more than two years since the outbreak of the war in October 2023, which resulted in the deaths of more than 65,000 Palestinians, mostly civilians according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, and caused widespread infrastructure destruction and a severe humanitarian crisis.
