World Heart Day, celebrated globally including in the Kingdom, serves as an educational awareness platform about cardiovascular diseases and their risk factors. It encourages individuals and communities to adopt healthy lifestyles to maintain heart health and reduce the risk of death from these diseases, which are the leading cause of death worldwide.

Most cardiovascular diseases can be prevented by controlling behavioral risk factors such as unhealthy diets, obesity, physical inactivity, and smoking. Individuals are encouraged to take preventive steps such as following a healthy diet, exercising, avoiding smoking, and adopting positive behaviors that improve heart health.

This day recommends consuming foods rich in vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. Quitting smoking significantly reduces the risk of heart disease, along with controlling blood pressure and cholesterol through necessary tests and medical follow-ups.

The day emphasizes efforts to reduce the global prevalence of high blood pressure. The Ministry of Health has contributed to awareness and education about the dangers of heart diseases, providing medical advice and guidelines on how to deal with heart diseases, their causes, and prevention methods. This includes the necessity of exercising for at least 30 minutes daily, which reduces the risk of heart disease, God willing, alongside coordination with health, educational, social, and governmental sectors to spread a culture of prevention and reduce the prevalence of heart diseases in society.
