Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretariat welcomed US President Donald Trump’s plan to end the Israeli war in the Gaza Strip.

This came in separate statements issued by the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the GCC.

The Bahraini Foreign Ministry expressed “welcome to the peace plan presented by US President Donald Trump regarding a ceasefire in Gaza, the release of hostages and detainees, and the flow of humanitarian aid.”

The ministry considered the plan “a positive initiative to achieve security and peace in the Middle East region.”

It called for “the concerted efforts of the international community and the commitment of all parties to support these peaceful efforts to end the war and alleviate the suffering of the people of Gaza.”

Meanwhile, the Secretary-General of the GCC, Jassim Al-Budaiwi, considered “any international effort aimed at ending the crisis and putting an end to the humanitarian disaster in Gaza deserves praise, interaction, and contribution,” welcoming Trump’s plan.

He said in a statement: “The GCC views positively the proposed steps that can contribute to paving the way for a real and just path that guarantees the established rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the establishment of their independent state on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.”

He emphasized that “a ceasefire, the direct and swift lifting of restrictions on aid delivery, preventing the displacement of the Palestinian population from the Strip, and protecting them are priorities that should be at the core of any responsible international action.”

He pointed out that “the success of any initiative depends on serious implementation, ensuring civilian protection, and providing suitable conditions for stability.”

He expressed the GCC’s readiness, along with regional and international partners, “to support any effort that contributes to ending the crisis in Gaza and formulating a solution that preserves all the rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, based on the two-state solution, and achieves security and stability in the region.”

On Monday evening, Trump outlined during a press conference held with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington the main points of his 20-article plan to stop the war, including the release of Israeli prisoners and disarming Hamas.

In a joint statement, foreign ministers of eight Arab and Islamic countries welcomed Trump’s plan: Turkey, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt.

With US support, Israel has been committing a genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, resulting in 66,055 deaths and 168,346 injuries, mostly children and women, and famine that claimed the lives of 442 Palestinians including 147 children.
