Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, UAE Minister of State, stated that Israel’s annexation of the West Bank or any part of the occupied Palestinian territories represents a red line and that such action would undermine regional security. He affirmed the UAE’s firm stance supporting the protection of Palestinian rights and the two-state solution as the only path to just and comprehensive peace.
In a joint press conference with Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, following the conclusion of the 164th session of the Arab Foreign Ministers Council, chaired by the UAE, Al Marar explained that the meetings included extensive discussions leading to full consensus among ministers and delegation heads on all agenda items, foremost among them the call to stop the Israeli occupation’s extermination war against the Palestinian people and rejection of any Israeli attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause through displacement or annexation of occupied lands.
He added that the UAE continues to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and is working within its relations with brotherly Arab countries to find a solution that ensures the cessation of war and the return to stability in the Gaza Strip, along with subsequent political and humanitarian arrangements.
Ahmed Aboul Gheit confirmed that Arab ministers agreed to move in two main directions in the upcoming phase: to immediately stop the extermination war and to preserve the project of an independent Palestinian state as the core of the issue and key to achieving peace.
Aboul Gheit pointed out that Egypt and Saudi Arabia submitted a joint draft resolution on “Arab Cooperation in the Middle East,” which was adopted unanimously and reflects the unified Arab position rejecting any violation of Arab states’ sovereignty and insisting on the two-state solution as the sole framework to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The resolution also calls for an international conference to implement the two-state solution and increase international recognition of the State of Palestine.
Regarding the US administration’s decision not to grant visas to the Palestinian delegation to attend the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, Aboul Gheit explained that Arab ministers called on Washington to reconsider its decision, confirming that individual and collective diplomatic contacts will be made with the US side in the coming period to persuade it to reverse this stance.
