The 22nd edition of the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition witnessed a remarkable presence of young Emirati talents who presented innovative artworks combining heritage and modernity. The exhibition showcased artistic panels made from Rubik’s cubes depicting national and global cultural symbols, alongside an innovative visual work based on the “Emirati traditional storytelling” as a key element, illustrating the journey of ideas in the human mind from the spark of an idea to the final vision.
The founder and CEO of CUPIXART, engineer Khalfan Jumaa Al Marashda, stated that Rubik’s cubes, a mental game for nearly 60 years, provided fertile material for producing unique artworks. Through these, he displayed panels depicting historical images in the UAE, including founding leaders, state leaders, and sheikhs, as well as global artistic, sports, and cultural icons.
Al Marashda added that his participation in the exhibition aimed to showcase new types of photography and painting using different sizes of Rubik’s cubes, ranging from 99 to 1800 cubes per panel. He confirmed that these works serve as a means of communication and dialogue with the audience, attracting visitors of all ages and nationalities due to their rarity worldwide.
He pointed out that most requested works are panels of national symbols in the UAE, ranging in size between 1200 and 4800 cubes, with production time ranging from five days to three weeks depending on the size and details of the work.
Meanwhile, Emirati artist Amer Al Khouri, in his first participation in the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition, presented an innovative visual artwork embodying the journey of ideas in the human mind.
He explained that colors and sizes were carefully chosen to express different emotions and intellectual stages, and the sizes of the storytelling elements were designed to start small with the spark of an idea and gradually grow until the final vision is embodied. He noted that executing the “large storytelling piece” alone took about 300 working hours, equivalent to 12 continuous days.
