The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) announced that, through joint cooperation with the “Roblox” platform, changes have been made in the UAE platform, most notably the temporary disabling of several communication features on the platform, such as the chat feature inside the gaming platform.

The authority revealed via its official social media accounts that the changes include improvements in content supervision and communication in Arabic on the platform, along with enhancements to safety features and parental control tools on the platform.

TDRA stated that close communication has been conducted with Roblox to ensure a safe, reliable, and positive digital environment for all platform users in the country, especially children, emphasizing the need for parents to monitor their children when using the platform and to send any feedback, suggestions, or reports directly through reporting channels to both the authority and Roblox.

TDRA confirmed that online child safety is a top priority in the country, especially when exploring online games, to create a trusted and safe digital space for children.

It is noted that the Roblox platform has faced various criticisms regarding its supervision and control mechanisms in recent periods in several countries, some of which have announced bans on the use of the game.
