The “Knowledge Makers” program, launched by the UAE Ministry of Education in collaboration with the UAE Government Media Office and the New Media Academy, has empowered 227 teachers and students to transform educational curricula into entertaining educational content through intensive and structured training conducted in two phases. The first phase included 77 teachers and students, followed by 150 in the second phase.
Graduates of the program successfully produced over 3,600 distinctive educational videos, covering more than 1,000 lessons across 10 subjects. These videos have garnered over 29 million views and more than 163,000 followers.
The program focuses on preparing a select group of teachers and students to become global models in developing, publishing, and transforming curricula into edutainment content by training them in innovative content creation methods for social media platforms, as well as converting scientific materials into entertaining content that supports culture and general knowledge.
This was highlighted during the “Knowledge Makers” forum organized by the Ministry of Education in cooperation with the UAE Government Media Office and the New Media Academy, attended by Minister of Education Sarah Al Amiri, Undersecretary Engineer Mohammed Al Qasim, Director of the New Media Academy Hussein Al Atoli, and a distinguished group of the program’s graduates.
Sarah Al Amiri praised the outcomes of the “Knowledge Makers” project and its pioneering role in stimulating innovation in the educational field, reflecting the depth of the project and its mission which has elevated the passion and skills of both students and teachers alike.
She added that the project provides a practical example of how to optimally utilize modern technologies to serve the goals of the educational system within an interactive and competitive environment where students and teachers collaborate to deliver advanced educational content.
She also commended the efforts of the UAE Government Media Office and the New Media Academy for their contribution to the project’s success by enabling students and teachers to produce high-quality educational, pedagogical, and national content according to the best standards. She emphasized the ministry’s keenness to invest in students’ talents in this area and empower them to leave a pioneering mark in the world of content creation, especially given the growing global interest in digital media and its expanding influence on all members of society. This necessitates equipping generations with advanced skills to express their identity and culture optimally using advanced technological tools that keep pace with rapid developments in this field.
Educational Landscape
The forum discussions focused on the importance of enriching the educational landscape with content that supports students across various subjects including Arabic language, science, mathematics, etiquette, moral education, and Islamic education in an innovative and engaging manner. The positive impact of leveraging modern technological tools and media in converting scientific materials into attractive edutainment content that supports culture and enhances academic achievement was also emphasized.
The forum also highlighted the importance of employing modern media and content creation innovatively and utilizing all its capabilities in storytelling, influence, and dissemination to support the educational field.
Supportive Edutainment Content and Innovative Ideas
The “Knowledge Makers” program agenda at the forum included training on how to use tools and vocabulary suitable for the current era to transform scientific materials into content that supports culture and increases academic achievement, covering subjects with an innovative and engaging approach.
The training included courses on storytelling arts to train participants on selecting creative ideas for their digital content and writing impactful and attractive scripts, courses on video filming and production where participants received training on filming basics and learned about technical and creative tools, and courses on digital content publishing basics to introduce participants to publishing strategies that help maintain strong and consistent engagement with the target audience. Participants were also trained on choosing appropriate social platforms for each content to ensure effective reach to the intended audience. The program spans 50 training hours delivered by eight specialized lecturers and content creators.
Interactive Workshop
The forum showcased outstanding examples of educational videos produced by program graduates and discussed the innovative methods and ideas that distinguished these videos, as well as the reasons behind their widespread reach and large follower base. The forum also included an interactive workshop for students on creative thinking and content creation, simulating the journey of transforming scientific concepts into simplified and enjoyable ideas.
