A California court acquitted American rapper Cardi B, who was sued by a security guard accusing her of assault and demanding millions in damages.

As Cardi B left the courtroom, she said: “Anyone who tries to file a frivolous lawsuit against me, I will fight back and make them pay because this is unacceptable.”

She added, “No one should ever think they can sue me and that I will settle and give them money.”

The artist thanked her supporters as she left the courthouse in Alhambra near Los Angeles.

She said, “I swear to God, I will say this on my deathbed: I did not touch that woman. I did not put my hands on that girl.”

The security guard, Imani Ellis, sought $24 million in damages from the singer of the hits “Money” and “Bodak Yellow” for an alleged assault that took place in February 2018.

The plaintiff, who worked at a women’s clinic in Beverly Hills, accused Cardi B of spitting on her and scratching her face with long nails.

However, during the trial, the artist asserted that the security guard acted violently towards her, attempting to film her with a phone during a medical examination while she was pregnant, a fact not publicly known at the time.

Cardi B’s defense lawyers explained that “Imani Ellis tried to intimidate the singer, leading to a heated altercation with verbal insults before medical staff intervened.”
