The UAE national team made a remarkable presence at the inaugural edition of the Asia Youth Mixed Martial Arts Championship (AMMA), hosted at Khalifa Sports City in Bahrain under the supervision of the Asian Mixed Martial Arts Federation, winning four medals: one gold, two silvers, and one bronze, finishing fourth overall among the teams.

The championship marked an important milestone as the first continental event for youth in this sport, reflecting the rapid growth of mixed martial arts in Asia. It also provided players with an ideal platform to enhance their skills and experience ahead of their participation in the upcoming Asian Youth Games scheduled for October.

Omar Al-Raisi won the gold medal in the under-18 traditional style at -60 kg, while Abdullah Al-Darmaki in the under-18 modern style at -50 kg and Omar Al-Marzouqi in the under-18 traditional style at -65 kg secured two silver medals. Ahmed Abdulrahim earned the bronze in the under-18 modern style at -65 kg.

Mohamed Jassim Al-Hosani, member of the Mixed Martial Arts Committee at the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, praised the players’ achievement and their honorable performance, which was the result of their continuous effort and hard work.

He added that the team’s results in this championship reflect the significant development the sport is witnessing in the UAE and confirm the commitment to strengthening the base of practitioners and developing talents in the youth categories. He emphasized that this participation represents a key step in preparing players for upcoming continental and global competitions.

Meanwhile, Omar Al-Raisi, the gold medalist, said that participating in the first Asian Youth Championship and standing on the podium reflects the importance of the achievement and the great efforts made by the players amid strong competition from all contenders. He looks forward to representing the UAE again at the Asian Youth Games and dedicated the gold medal to the UAE leadership and people.
