The Saudi Roshn League is anticipating historic signings before the transfer window closes.
While the major European leagues closed their transfer windows at the beginning of September, the scene in Saudi Arabia remains open until the 11th of this month, giving Roshn League clubs a golden opportunity to snatch stars from the Old Continent at the last moment. The huge financial gap between Saudi and European clubs during these nine days represents a critical phase that could change the sporting season’s landscape both inside and outside Europe.
Major deals have been made… and Saudi Arabia wants more
This summer did not pass unnoticed in Europe, as Saudi Arabia attracted prominent names such as Darwin Núñez, Theo Hernández, João Félix, Kingsley Coman, Iñigo Martínez, Mateo Retegui, and Enzo Millo. These deals were described as “fantastical” due to their financial value but have not yet satisfied the ambitions of Saudi clubs, which are now looking for decisive moves in the final days of the transfer window.
Attempts by Al Hilal and Al Nassr for stars like Bruno Fernandes and Alexander Isak collided with the players’ desire to remain in the English Premier League. Bruno received offers described as “crazy” but preferred to stay at Manchester United, while Isak chose to move to Liverpool. However, European coaches understand the danger is not over yet, as any transfer now leaves no time to compensate before next January.
Porto holds on to its future gem
In Portugal, FC Porto awaits the fate of its rising talent Rodrigo Mora (19 years old). The Saudi federation made an official offer worth 63 million euros plus 10% of future resale rights, but the “Dragons” management insists on the 70 million euro release clause. Many believe the seven million euro difference could be quickly resolved in the coming days, especially with the Saudi club’s insistence, supported by stars including Karim Benzema.
Spain in the radar
Real Sociedad’s management admitted that midfielder Brais Méndez received an official offer from the Saudi league. Eric Britos, the club’s sporting director, said frankly: “We received a very important offer in the final hours of the transfer window, an offer that could change the player’s life, but Brais has never pressured to leave.”
In London, Chelsea looks differently at some players like Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi, who are not in coach Enzo Maresca’s plans, and Saudi Arabia might be a suitable outlet to let them go. However, the club faces a bigger dilemma with Brazilian midfielder André Santos, who rejected a tempting 50 million euro offer from Al Qadsiah, fearing his departure would affect the “Blues” future plans.
Ronaldo pushes for Greenwood deal
Even in the Bundesliga, clubs have not escaped Saudi interest. Al Ahli is closely monitoring Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Ezequiel Palacios to compensate for the absence of Gabriel Veiga. Despite the German club denying negotiations, many believe Saudi moves in the final hours are very likely.
