As an umbrella encompassing humanitarian institutions and initiatives, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives aim to improve the reality of societies and harness all available resources to alleviate human suffering anywhere in the world. Since its launch in 2015, the foundation has provided aid to 222 million people with expenditures reaching 4.6 billion dirhams. This includes various institutions and initiatives such as Dubai Cares, UAE Water Aid Foundation, Mohammed bin Rashid Charity and Humanitarian Foundation, Mohammed bin Rashid Global Center for Waqf and Gift Consultations, Emirates Food Bank, and campaigns like 10 Million Meals, 100 Million Meals, and 1 Billion Meals. The foundation implements sustainable programs especially in communities facing poverty, conflicts, and development challenges, aiming to improve quality of life through urgent and ongoing initiatives. In 2023, humanitarian aid spending reached 944 million dirhams benefiting 37 million people.
Dubai Cares currently hosts relief stocks valued between 190 to 195 million USD and dispatches over 1,200 shipments annually to about 135 countries. In 2024, 1,255 metric tons of aid were distributed benefiting approximately 3.7 million people worldwide. Major projects include drilling and maintaining artesian wells in Tanzania to provide clean water to one million people, building a village in Tajikistan with 60 homes, a school, clinic, and infrastructure costing 6.3 million dirhams, and constructing a school and orphanage in Bangladesh benefiting 2,100 people. The foundation also supports operating schools in 24 countries serving around 242,000 students. Food distribution projects like the annual “Iftar for Fasting” reached 171,000 beneficiaries in 4 countries in 2024. Emergency food aid was sent to Lebanon benefiting 250,000 people under the “UAE With You Lebanon” campaign. The “1 Billion Meals Endowment” project was completed in July 2025, distributing one billion meals in 65 countries, with 260 million more meals planned for the following year.
The Mohammed bin Rashid Charity contributed 30 million dirhams to the campaign and distributed 5 million meals in 19 countries. The foundation also supported the UN Trust Fund “UnitLife” with 5.5 million dirhams to develop innovative agricultural solutions and combat malnutrition in Senegal, Niger, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, benefiting over 300,000 people. These efforts continue the momentum started by the “10 Million Meals” campaign launched in Ramadan 2020 in the UAE.
