The opening ceremony of the 41st Alexandria Mediterranean Film Festival, chaired by film critic Amir Abaza and named after actress Laila Eloui, will kick off on Thursday, October 2, and continue until October 6.
The festival announced the honored artists during the 41st edition: Fardous Abdel Hamid, Riyad Al-Khouli, Sherine, Ahmed Rizk, director Hany Lashin, the late child prodigy actress Fayrouz, Libyan musician Nasser Mazdawi, Tunisian director Reda Bahri, Moroccan-French director Hakim Belabbes, French director Jean-Pierre Amaris, Spanish producer Mercedes Ortega, cinematographer Sameh Selim, and the Mediterranean Medal was awarded to Moroccan star Mohamed Meftah.
The jury of the feature Mediterranean film competition is headed by the prominent producer Charles Sebeta, with members including Moroccan critic Ahmed Al-Hassani, Spanish star Mercedes Ortega, renowned Egyptian screenwriter and novelist Nasser Abdel Rahman, Greek director Michael Hebishis, and Syrian star Suzanne Najm El-Din.
