Diego Simeone, the coach of Atletico Madrid, has been suspended for one match as a penalty after being sent off in the Liverpool match that his team lost 2-3 on September 17, during the UEFA Champions League.
According to the British news agency PA Media, the Argentine coach got into altercations with Liverpool fans in the stands at Anfield after Virgil van Dijk scored the winning goal for the English team in stoppage time.
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) announced on Tuesday that Diego Simeone was suspended for one match due to unsporting behavior.
The Atletico Madrid coach will serve his suspension in the match against German club Eintracht Frankfurt, which will take place later on Tuesday.
UEFA also decided to fine Liverpool €4,000 (approximately $4,690) for throwing objects.
