Diego Simeone, coach of Atletico Madrid, has been suspended for one match as a penalty following his sending off in the match against Liverpool, which his team lost 2-3 on September 17, during the UEFA Champions League.
The Argentine coach got into altercations with Liverpool fans in the stands at Anfield after Virgil van Dijk scored the winning goal for the English team in stoppage time.
UEFA announced today the one-match suspension of Diego Simeone due to unsportsmanlike conduct.
Simeone will serve his suspension in the upcoming match against German club Eintracht Frankfurt, scheduled later today. UEFA also fined Liverpool €4,000 (approximately $4,690) for throwing objects.
