Mr. Yousef bin Abdulhussain Khalaf, Acting Minister of Legal Affairs and Minister of Labor, affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, is steadfast in consolidating a system for the protection of human rights and combating human trafficking and all forms of exploitation by enacting and developing necessary legislation in line with international labor standards.

This statement was made on the occasion of Bahrain’s classification in the Tier 1 category for the eighth consecutive year in the annual US State Department report on country rankings in combating human trafficking crimes.

On this occasion, Khalaf praised the national efforts exerted by the relevant bodies and institutions in combating human trafficking and their constructive cooperation in applying best practices to address this phenomenon, reinforcing Bahrain’s position as a model to be emulated in handling these humanitarian issues.

The Acting Minister of Legal Affairs and Minister of Labor also commended the diligent follow-up by Lieutenant General His Excellency Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, and the ministry’s efforts in providing an integrated security system that supports the joint national work to combat human trafficking. He also praised the efforts of Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, in following up and managing the human rights file at the international level, which contributed to highlighting the national achievements made in this regard. In this context, he pointed to the efforts of the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Awqaf, the Supreme Judicial Council, the Public Prosecution, and the Labor Market Regulatory Authority in taking the necessary integrated measures and procedures to confront this phenomenon according to relevant laws and regulations.
