The Oklahoma City Zoo in the United States witnessed the birth of an orange monkey, which some commentators humorously linked to the “Weasley” family with their red-orange hair from the famous “Harry Potter” series.
The recent birth of an orange-furred monkey attracted the attention of zoo visitors when it was announced that the endangered monkey couple, “Pam” and “Ripley,” of the François langur species, welcomed a male infant on September 8th.
The endangered newborn has not yet been named and was born with its head and body completely covered in orange fur.
Paice Frank, assistant curator of the primates section at the zoo, explained that this coloration has an important function, saying: “The orange fur helps young langurs to be easily noticed by members of their group.”
It is noted that adults of this species, like “Pam” and “Ripley,” are characterized by prominent white mustaches. People quickly reacted to the news of the monkey’s birth via the zoo’s Facebook post.
