Dr. Amr Adel Abdel Aal, Deputy Minister of Health in North Sinai, held a meeting to follow up on the implementation of the Deputy Minister of Health’s recommendations for population and family development. The meeting was attended by Dr. Mona Youssef Harb, Director of Therapeutic Medicine, Dr. Ashraf Abdel Gawad, Director of Family Development, Dr. Ina Salam, Director of Healthcare, and the supervisory team at the directorate. The meeting focused on three main axes: enhancing reproductive health through birth spacing methods, reducing unnecessary cesarean sections by applying the guidelines issued by the Egyptian Health Council, and improving the quality of healthcare to reduce neonatal mortality.

The Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of unifying medical practices through guidelines, providing human resources and continuous training for medical staff, completing counseling rooms and medical and non-medical equipment at primary healthcare units, periodic follow-up by the supervisory team, applying the ‘Robson’ criteria to identify suitable cases, training nursing staff, appointing referral officers in each hospital, activating counseling rooms, and issuing accurate statistics for presidential initiatives and family planning methods. Dr. Amr Adel directed the supervisory team to intensify field efforts and continuous monitoring of the health system, promptly address challenges, and detect any potential shortcomings to ensure the provision of distinguished health services in preparation for North Sinai’s entry into the comprehensive health insurance system.
