Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, confirmed that what has been achieved in Egypt over the past eight years equals what was accomplished in more than seventy years, noting that the New Republic is a true model of development and progress in various fields, including sports.

The Egyptian national team secured an easy 1-0 victory over Guinea-Bissau on Sunday evening in the tenth and final round of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, amid celebrations of qualification.

Egypt qualified for the World Cup for the fourth time, topping Group A in the African qualifiers with 26 points from 10 matches, achieving 8 wins and 2 draws without any defeats.

The lineup for Egypt against Guinea-Bissau included: goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhy; defenders Mohamed Hany, Rami Rabia, Yasser Ibrahim, Mohamed Hamdy; midfielders Mohannad Lasheen, Ahmed Nabil Kouka, Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet; and forwards Ahmed Sayed Zizo, Ibrahim Adel, and Mostafa Mohamed.
