During a White House meeting on Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump received a memo from Secretary of State Marco Rubio stating that a deal regarding the Gaza Strip is “very close” and requesting his approval for a related social media announcement.

The memo, handed to Trump by Rubio and witnessed by an AFP photographer present in the room, stated that the agreement is “very close,” adding, “We need your approval to post on Truth Social soon so you can announce the deal first.”

Similarly, the Associated Press reported that Rubio gave Trump a handwritten note during the White House meeting on Wednesday asking the U.S. president to approve a social media post related to the Gaza deal.

The note said, “We need your approval on a social media post soon so you can announce the deal first.”

Earlier on Wednesday, the U.S. president announced he might travel to the Middle East by the end of the week, confirming that a deal between Israel and Hamas regarding Gaza is “very imminent.”

Trump told reporters at the White House: “I might go there at the end of the week, maybe Sunday,” adding, “We’ll see. But there is a very big opportunity. The negotiations are going very well.”

The U.S. president said, “Our recent negotiations, as you know, are with Hamas, and it seems they are going well. We’ll let you know, if so, we will probably leave Sunday, maybe Saturday.”

Trump said he had just had a phone conversation with Middle Eastern officials after his special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner joined talks in Egypt.

He continued: “Peace for the Middle East is a beautiful phrase, and we hope it will happen. It is very imminent, and they are doing a very good job.”

He added: “We have a great team there, great negotiators, and unfortunately, there are great negotiators on the other side as well. But I think it will happen.”
