Egypt’s import value declined in July compared to the same month in the previous year 2024, according to data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics.
Total Egyptian imports reached about $9 billion in July, down from $9.2 billion in the same month of 2024, a decrease of 2.4%.
Data shows a decline in the value of imports of some goods in July compared to the same month last year, notably raw materials of iron or steel by 36.8%, followed by imports of primary plastics by 9%, then organic and inorganic chemicals by 26%, and finally wheat imports by 31.1%.
Conversely, the value of imports of some goods increased, mainly petroleum products by 34.8%, natural gas by 43.8%, passenger cars by 55.2%, and corn by 48.8%.
Overall, the trade deficit value fell to $5.2 billion in July, compared to $5.6 billion in the same month of the previous year, a decrease of 5.9%, according to the July 2025 monthly foreign trade data bulletin.
