Coinciding with the launch of the “Global Resilience Fleet” from multiple Mediterranean coasts, the “National Working Group for Palestine” affirmed the participation of several of its officials in this noble global humanitarian initiative, highly praising all participants in this maritime fleet as advocates of justice, rights, and freedom for all humanity. They highlighted that they “decided to head towards the Gaza Strip in the largest maritime fleet and the most massive mission of its kind, consisting of dozens of ships carrying vital humanitarian aid to break the Zionist siege on our defenseless Palestinian people in Gaza and to break the silence of the international community regarding the ongoing blockade.”
In a statement received by Hespress following its monthly remote national secretariat meeting, the Working Group described this initiative as “a clear message that the people of Gaza have the right to access food, medicine, and everything that guarantees dignity and life without restrictions,” stressing that “the continuation of the unjust siege constitutes a violation of international law and fundamental human rights,” before strongly denouncing “the threats issued by officials of the Zionist entity to intercept the activities of this fleet, seize its ships, and arrest its participants.”
The same pro-Palestine body announced on Monday its engagement in “joint activities organized by the ‘We Are All Gaza – We Are All Palestine’ network, by calling on all its components to organize a global hunger strike in support of Gaza and Palestine on September 16, coinciding with the anniversary of the ‘Sabra and Shatila massacre,’ and on the 23rd, coinciding with the United Nations General Assembly meeting.”
The meeting also discussed, according to the statement, “updates on the Palestinian cause and developments in light of the escalation of genocide, mass killings, and ethnic cleansing of the defenseless Gaza population, attacks on homes, hospitals, roads, and schools, and the continued imposition of an unjust siege on Gaza by the Zionist enemy, supported by Western powers led by the United States of America, leading to widespread famine and the spread of diseases and epidemics due to the catastrophic situation faced by the population.”
The meeting also provided an opportunity, according to the same source, “to discuss the regional situation, especially developments in Syria after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, and initiatives aimed at normalizing current officials with the Zionist entity and strengthening the siege on Palestinian and Lebanese resistance resources across land borders.”
In response to the situation in Yemen, the Working Group strongly condemned “the brutal aggression launched by the Zionist entity against the state of Yemen and its heroic people (…)” considering that “the Zionist attacks are a blatant assault on the sovereignty of a United Nations member state, requiring urgent intervention by the Security Council and the United Nations General Assembly in light of their clear and explicit responsibility to maintain international peace and security according to the UN Charter.”
