Haaland aims to break more records in the near future.

Norwegian star Erling Haaland of Manchester City has had an exceptional start to the new season, scoring in every match he played except one — a 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium in August. Haaland currently leads the Premier League scoring chart with 9 goals.

In less than two months since the season began, Haaland has scored 18 goals in 11 matches combined between his club and national team, an impressive figure reflecting his fitness and quick adaptation. He has scored in nine consecutive matches, cementing his status as one of Europe’s most dangerous forwards.

Haaland’s achievements didn’t stop there; he broke two significant records this season. He became the fastest player to reach 50 goals in the UEFA Champions League, achieving this in just 49 matches, surpassing the previous record held by Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy by 13 matches.

He also became the highest-scoring Norwegian in Premier League history, surpassing Ole Gunnar Solskjær, who scored 94 goals in 104 matches for Manchester United.

Looking ahead, Haaland aims to break more records. He is just 6 goals away from reaching his 100th Premier League goal, which would make him the fastest player to reach this milestone, beating Alan Shearer’s 125 matches.

Thanks to his nine-year contract with Manchester City, Haaland seems set on breaking the Premier League’s all-time top scorer record held by legendary striker Alan Shearer with 260 goals.

Haaland continues his quest to break personal records; he is on track to break the record for most goals scored in a calendar year, having scored 37 goals so far in 2025 with 22 matches remaining. He needs only 13 more goals to equal the previous record of 50 goals set in 2023.

If he maintains his scoring rate and fitness, he could also break the record for most goals in a single Premier League season, which he set himself in the 2022/23 season with 36 goals.

He is also close to challenging Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of 17 goals in a single UEFA Champions League season, especially with the increased number of group stage matches. He started the season strongly with 3 goals in the first two games.

At his club, Haaland currently ranks ninth in Manchester City’s all-time top scorers with 136 goals and is the second-highest scorer at the Etihad Stadium with 52 goals. However, he will need some time to surpass club legend Sergio Agüero, who scored 260 goals over ten years, including 106 at the Etihad.
