Hugo Ikotiki scored Liverpool’s second goal against Newcastle United in the 46th minute of the match held at St. James’ Park as part of the second round of the 2025-26 English Premier League season. Liverpool had previously defeated Bournemouth 4-2 in the opening round, while Newcastle drew 0-0 with Aston Villa. The match is expected to be intense, with Newcastle fans hostile towards Liverpool due to the latter’s attempt to sign Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, who recently rebelled against his club’s management after they rejected Liverpool’s £110 million offer. Liverpool aims to secure its second consecutive win and reach 6 points early in the title race, while Newcastle seeks its first victory of the season. Egyptian star Mohamed Salah is close to breaking Manchester United legend Andy Cole’s record by scoring one more goal to become fourth all-time top scorer in the Premier League.
However, Salah faces a challenge as he will miss six Premier League matches if Egypt progresses in the Africa Cup of Nations 2025, held in Morocco from December 21 to January 18. Salah opened his scoring account this season with a goal against Bournemouth and currently holds the Premier League Golden Boot from last season with 29 goals, six ahead of Isak.
