Portuguese international Ruben Neves (28), midfielder for Al Hilal, saved his national team from dropping two points against visiting Ireland by scoring his first-ever goal for Portugal, 1-0, in the third round of the European qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
Neves dedicated his first goal in 59 international appearances for Portugal to the memory of his late friend Diogo Jota, who tragically died in a car accident in Spain.
The decisive goal came in the early minutes of stoppage time, with a header that he converted into the Irish net.
