Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, issued decision No. 2812 for the year 2025 appointing Dr. Islam Abdel Azim Azzam as Chairman of the Board of the Egyptian Exchange for one year. Dr. Azzam held several positions, including Deputy Chairman of the Financial Regulatory Authority from January 2021 to August 2025, overseeing capital markets, insurance, and non-banking finance sectors. He also served as advisor to the Chairman of the Real Estate Finance Authority (2007-2009), Assistant Chairman of the Capital Market Authority (2003-2005), and Managing Director of the Small and Medium Projects Investment Fund (Bedaya). Academically, Dr. Azzam is a Finance Professor at the American University in Cairo, having chaired the Finance Department and taught at various universities internationally. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of California, Irvine, and multiple master’s degrees in economics and real estate finance. Dr. Azzam is a board member of several financial and economic institutions.
Additionally, the Prime Minister appointed Mohamed Sabry as Deputy Chairman of the Egyptian Exchange Board for one year. Sabry previously served as Assistant Chairman of the Financial Regulatory Authority for Capital Markets and held various roles in capital market supervision and brokerage firms before joining the Egyptian Exchange.
