AC Milan secured a valuable 2-1 victory over visiting Napoli in the match held on Sunday evening at San Siro Stadium, as part of the fifth round of the Italian Serie A.
Milan ended the first half leading 2-0, with goals from Alexis Saelemaekers in the 3rd minute and Christian Pulisic in the 31st minute, following a strong attacking performance by the home team.
The second half saw a shift in the match dynamics after the referee awarded a penalty to Napoli in the 54th minute and Milan defender Pierre Kalulu was sent off for a strong challenge on Giovanni Di Lorenzo inside the penalty area, which Kevin De Bruyne converted into a goal.
Despite being a man down in the second half, Milan managed to hold on and Napoli failed to equalize.
With this win, Milan rose to the top of the Serie A standings with 12 points, edging Napoli on goal difference, who dropped to second place.
