Meta has directed its Metaverse team to integrate artificial intelligence into nearly every aspect of their work to boost productivity fivefold.

An executive at Meta responsible for developing Metaverse products told employees to use AI to work “five times faster,” according to an internal memo obtained by 404 Media.

Vishal Shah, head of the Metaverse division, said AI should become a “core part” of their daily work, and Meta hopes that 80% of the team will be using AI tools by the end of the year, according to a report reviewed by Al Arabiya Business.

The idea is for programmers to use AI to work five times more efficiently than they currently do, not just to improve efficiency by 5%.

This represents a major shift for Meta, which previously focused entirely on virtual reality. Now, Shah encourages engineers, designers, and project managers to use AI to speed up prototyping and get faster feedback, making workflows much more efficient.

Meta’s Metaverse products, which CEO Mark Zuckerberg renamed the company after to highlight them, were previously a massive waste of time and money, with the company spending tens of billions of dollars developing a product used by relatively few people.

Meta’s new directive for the Metaverse team is the company’s move to keep the Metaverse project alive and a sign of how AI has become an essential element everywhere.

This move aligns with broader trends; experts expect AI to contribute to a 3% increase in global productivity by 2055, while about half of business leaders see productivity enhancement as the main reason for adopting AI technologies.
