Italian club Inter Milan visits French side Monaco this Friday evening for a friendly match at the Louis II stadium at 9 PM Cairo time, as both teams prepare for the new 2025-2026 football season. Inter Milan plays its second friendly this summer after a big 7-2 win against an under-23 team during their training camp at the BPER center under coach Christian Kivou. This match is Inter’s first European away test before two subsequent games against Monza and Olympiacos. The coaching staff aims to improve physical fitness and tactical aspects before the official Serie A season starts on August 25 against Torino at San Siro. On the other side, Monaco enters the match with high technical and physical readiness, having played six friendlies without defeat, including wins over Cercle Brugge, Coventry, Arminia Bielefeld, a draw with Nottingham Forest and Ajax, and a 3-1 win over Torino.
The French team, led by Adi Hütter, concludes its preparation matches tonight before starting the official campaign on August 16 against Le Havre in the domestic league. During the current summer transfer window, Monaco strengthened its squad with five new signings, most notably Spaniard Ansu Fati, Frenchman Paul Pogba returning after a long absence, and English defender Eric Dier, as part of a plan to reshape the team and compete for titles. Inter Milan has a good record against Monaco, having met previously in European competitions, notably in the 1963-1964 European Cup round of 16, where Inter won both matches and advanced, later winning the title. The teams also met recently in the Champions League last January, with Inter winning 3-0 thanks to Lautaro Martinez’s goals.
Regarding transfers, Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport revealed Inter’s moves to sign Parma defender Giovanni Leoni and Genoa defender Koni De Winter, anticipating the departure of either Jan Bednarek or Benjamin Pavard. Additionally, Inter Milan goalkeeper Yann Sommer was shortlisted among ten candidates for the FIFA Lev Yashin Award for the best goalkeeper in the world.
