Pyramids FC faces a heavyweight clash against Moroccan Renaissance Berkane in the 2025 African Super Cup, a match eagerly awaited by football fans across Africa, as it pits the Champions League winner against the Confederation Cup champion.

Pyramids won the CAF Champions League for the first time by defeating South Africa’s Sundowns, while Renaissance Berkane claimed the CAF Confederation Cup by beating Tanzania’s Simba.

The match will take place at 8 PM next Saturday at the Air Defense Stadium in Cairo, the home ground of Pyramids FC.

The CAF appointed a Sudanese refereeing team led by Mahmoud Ismail, assisted by Mohamed Abdullah and Gilbert Cheruiyot, with Mauritanian Abdelaziz Bouh as the fourth official. The VAR technology will be overseen by Ghanaian Daniel Laryea, assisted by South African Tom Abu Ngil and Kenyan Stephen Onyango.

Ghanaian Ransford Abey will monitor the match, with René Daniel from Congo supervising the referees. Essam Shaaban from Sudan is the general coordinator, assisted by Moataz Allah Dashrawi from Tunisia, while Nigerian Okey Obi is responsible for security coordination.

After the Super Cup, Pyramids will prepare to continue their continental campaign in the CAF Champions League, facing Ethiopian Insurance Club in the second preliminary round. The first leg will be in Addis Ababa on October 25, with the return leg at Air Defense Stadium on October 30.

On the other hand, Renaissance Berkane enters the match with high ambitions to reclaim the African Super Cup title, having recently won the Confederation Cup against Simba. The Moroccan team relies on its continental experience in such encounters, having previously won the continental title.

Egypt’s Zamalek won the last edition of the African Super Cup held in Saudi Arabia, defeating Al Ahly 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regular time.

Al Ahly has won the African Super Cup 8 times, first in 2002 against South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs, while Zamalek has won it 5 times, first in 1994 after beating Al Ahly in the final.
