Spain’s national team continued its impressive performance in the European qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup by defeating visiting Georgia 2-0, while Turkey triumphed over Bulgaria 6-1 in the third round of Group 5 matches.

At the Manuel Martínez Valero Stadium in Elche, Spain, Spain maintained its perfect record by securing its third win in the qualifiers after beating Georgia 2-0. Spain’s coach Luis de la Fuente’s players opened the scoring with a brilliant goal by Yeremi Pino (24th minute). The lead could have doubled shortly after, but Georgia’s goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili saved a penalty kicked by Ferran Torres. In the second half, Pedro Porro and Mikel Oyarzabal hit the posts within seconds, before Oyarzabal completed the scoring with a rocket shot (62nd minute).

In the other Group 5 match, Turkey regained its balance after a heavy 6-0 defeat to Spain last month, winning impressively against Bulgaria. Turkey took the lead through Arda Güler, but the hosts equalized with a shot from Radoslav Kirilov.

The match turned early in the second half when Bulgarian defender Viktor Popov scored an own goal under pressure from Juventus star Kenan Yıldız, who then scored two consecutive goals. Zeki Çelik added the fifth goal before substitute Kahveci sealed the scoring for Turkey.

With these results, Spain reaches its third win and tops the group with 9 points, followed by Turkey with two wins and 6 points, Georgia third with 3 points, and Bulgaria last with no points.
