Al-Fateh club management raced against time to resolve outstanding financial issues preventing the registration of new players, particularly two cases filed by former coach Bilic and Armenian player Zelaian registered with FIFA. The local issue of overdue payments to Hajer club is also being addressed. The administration succeeded in selling player Ahmed Al-Jalidan’s contract to Al-Ittihad club in a deal exceeding 40 million riyals, a key goal to overcome the club’s financial crisis that hindered new local or foreign signings. The club is actively working to register new players including goalkeeper Amin Bukhari, Sostam Timbuktu, and Faisal Darsi. Some foreign players signed with other clubs before the resolution of the club’s issues. Brazilian Hilton dos Santos, currently with Turkish club Goztepe, revealed an offer from Al-Fateh despite having a year left on his contract.
However, the club is unlikely to sign him unless Portuguese player Fernandez, a key defender under coach Gomez, leaves. The coach is focused on signing a distinguished striker to replace Janini, with interest in Congolese player Viston Mayele from Egyptian club Pyramids, who contributed to their recent African title. Al-Fateh is holding a training camp in Spain, ending soon after two friendly matches against Andorran clubs Ordino and Santa Coloma. The team lost its second friendly 5-0 to Atletico Madrid’s reserve team. Al-Fateh will miss player Hussein Qasim for over two months due to injury. Selling player contracts is a major income source for Al-Fateh, with the Al-Jalidan deal being the 17th in the club’s professional league history. Last year, contracts of Salem Al-Najdi and Abbas Al-Hassan were sold to Al-Nassr and Neom respectively to provide summer liquidity.
Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli, and Al-Ittihad benefit most from Al-Fateh’s talents, while Al-Hilal benefits less despite its financial power. Many notable players have left Al-Fateh since the professional league began, including Ali Al-Bulaihi, Ali Lajami, Hussein Al-Moqahwi, Ali Al-Hassan, goalkeeper Habib Al-Wotayan, Mohamed Al-Mujahid, Nawaf Boushal, Abdullah Al-Owaishir, Ali Al-Raqaan, Ahmed Bouabid, Rabie Sufiani, and Nouh Al-Mousa. Al-Fateh is recognized for developing talents annually and financially benefiting from selling contracts, besides players who joined from other clubs and increased their market value after playing for Al-Fateh, such as Firas Al-Buraikan, whose contract dispute with Al-Fateh after moving to Al-Ahli remains unresolved despite financial gains from contract termination, with the club focusing on legal aspects and reputation restoration.
