The Citizens’ Security Secretariat in Mexico City announced that 29-year-old Fede Dorcas was shot three times—one bullet hitting his neck—on Thursday in the Ampliación Daniel Garza neighborhood.
Officials have not disclosed a motive for the crime nor arrested any suspects, but multiple media outlets reported it was a clear attempted robbery.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the singer and model was on his way home after dance rehearsals when two motorcycles intercepted his vehicle and fired several shots.
Dorcas was scheduled to appear in a few days on the Mexican dance competition show “Las Estrellas Bailan En Hoy” (The Stars Dance Today), which mourned the rising star.
The show posted on its X account: “The HOY family mourns with deep sorrow the passing of our friend and colleague, Fede Dorcas.”
The message added: “We share with the entire family, his parents, and his girlfriend Mariana Avila, the overwhelming grief they are experiencing.”
Avila and Dorcas were set to participate as a duo in the new season of the popular show.
The grieving girlfriend, a social media influencer with a popular YouTube channel, mourned the senseless killing in heartfelt social media posts. Avila wrote, “You will always be my favorite person in the whole world, I love you, I love you, I love you, and I will always love you.”
In a later post, she wrote, “I don’t want to spend another day without you, my love. I’m waiting for a goodnight message from you. Please come back, you know I wasn’t strong without you by my side.”
Dorcas was known in Mexico for his hit songs “No Eres Tu” and “Cara Bonita” (Beautiful Face), which reached the top 10 in Mexican radio charts, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The newspaper also noted he worked as a model for Giorgio Armani and Dolce & Gabbana.
