Britain announced on Saturday that two Royal Air Force aircraft flew a 12-hour mission last week alongside American forces and NATO troops to patrol near the Russian borders.

This came after Russian planes and drones recently violated the airspace of NATO countries.

British Defense Secretary John Healey said, “This was a necessary joint mission with the United States and NATO.”

This week, the German government announced it will authorize its police to shoot down drones considered a threat, noting ongoing discussions with Israel and Ukraine about their defenses against drones flying over sensitive sites suspected to be involved in Moscow-related operations.

Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt proposed legislative amendments to enhance police resources, allowing them to “use the latest technologies to combat threats posed by drones.”

After a cabinet meeting where the bill was presented, he said, “Drone shootdowns will be subject to legal controls and will become available to the federal police.”

Russia condemned the European Union’s plans to strengthen defenses against drones, considering the EU’s response to unknown drones violating its airspace will only escalate tensions.
