The Hurghada Youth Cinema Festival announced the awards of its third edition, which concluded last Monday evening with a special cinematic celebration at the Marina Yachts, attended by several art stars and filmmakers including Nermin El Feki, Ahmed Wafik, Ahmed Fathy, Mohamed Radwan, and Heba Magdy. The festival president, screenwriter Mohamed El Bassousi, and festival director, journalist Kadry El Hagar, presented the awards to the winners.

The jury awarded the Golden Prize for the feature film category to the Russian film “The Postman” directed by Andrei Razenkov, praised for its smooth handling of a sensitive issue through a well-crafted screenplay, outstanding performances, and professional direction that sensitively addressed societal issues during World War II.

The Silver Prize went to the Kazakh film “Spark” directed by Pascal Tesso, a musical and emotional film that beautifully portrayed family bonds.

The Bronze Prize was awarded to the film “Bird Boy” directed by Joel Bradley Swanson, a co-production between South Africa and the United States.

The Best Screenplay award went to Mikhail Lepitokhov and Andrei Razenkov for the screenplay of “The Postman” from Russia, while Andrei Razenkov also won Best Director for the same film.

The Best Actor award went to Mexican actor Juan Ramon Lopez for his role in “The Shame,” while the Best Actress award was given to Mohitichera Islomova for her role in “The House” from Uzbekistan, where she portrayed a grieving mother with silent and intense expressions through her eyes and body language without exaggeration.

In the short films competition, the Egyptian film “Castaros” directed by Mohamed El Hedeidy won the Golden Prize for Best Short Film. The Silver Prize went to director Phon Sovannarith for the film “Lisa” from Cambodia, and the Bronze Prize for Best Student Film was awarded to director B. Suresh Kumar for the film “Cats” from Serbia.

The jury gave a special mention to the Egyptian film “Once a Month” directed by Amr Mansour.

In the student films awards, the Golden Prize for Best Film went to director Amira Yehia for the Egyptian film “After Departure,” the Silver Prize to director Luis Arroyo for the Spanish film “Marciano Garcia,” and the Bronze Prize to director Ziad Ismail for the Egyptian film “Silk Extinguished.”
