The National Food Safety Authority reported in a statement released on Sunday that the number of food consignments reached 3,050 during the past week, with a total quantity estimated at 130,000 tons exported by 1,230 exporting companies. These consignments included nearly 700 types of food products, including vegetables, fruits, flour, and various food products.

According to the authority’s 37th weekly report for 2025 covering the period from October 4 to 10, sweet potato exports topped Egyptian vegetables last week at 12,000 tons, followed by mixed frozen vegetables at about 4,000 tons, then onions at 3,000 tons. The total number of exported vegetable types reached 35, totaling about 25,000 tons.

Pomegranates led the list of exported fruits last week with a total of 8,000 tons, followed by mangoes and strawberries with about 5,000 tons each. The total number of exported fruit types reached 32, with a quantity of 25,000 tons. These exports were distributed across many international markets, with Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and India among the top importing countries from a total of 170 importing countries during the week.

Alexandria port ranked first in the number of incoming food consignments, with a total of 415 consignments, followed by Port Said port in second place with 305 consignments, then Cairo International Airport port with 290 consignments.

The authority also indicated that it issued 925 health certificates for export during the past week, adding that 996 food consignments were released under temporary detention, while the number of consignments released under the fast release system reached 339.

In the context of implementing the decisions of the Appeals Committee, 80 case reports were recorded. Regarding import activity, import licenses were issued to 64 importers during the same period.

The Food Safety Authority clarified that 51 dietary supplement products were registered during the week, 402 new products were tested, and 12 free sale certificates were issued.
