Ismail Thawabta, Director General of the Government Media Office in Gaza Strip, rejected the “American President Donald Trump’s plan to stop the war in Gaza,” affirming that it “does not represent a real, objective, and fair solution.”
Thawabta emphasized that the American plan is “an attempt to impose a new guardianship that legitimizes the Israeli occupation and strips the Palestinian people of their rights. The only way to stop the war is to end the Israeli aggression, lift the unjust siege, and stop the systematic extermination,” stressing the Palestinian people’s right to “freedom, independence, and self-determination.”
He added: “Any proposals that ignore these rights and treat Gaza as a security entity stripped of sovereignty under international administration are completely rejected in the Palestinian national collective consciousness.”
Thawabta concluded his statement by saying: “This is our understanding of the nature of the relationship between a great people who have made immense sacrifices and have been under occupation for 77 years, and criminal occupation gangs that occupied Palestine without any right,” calling for “an immediate stop to the criminal war.”
Trump had stated that Monday could be the greatest day in the history of civilizations, stressing that “today is a historic day for peace and we are working for a comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, not just Gaza.”
The White House today published President Donald Trump’s plan to end the conflict in Gaza, which includes several provisions. The plan calls for an immediate ceasefire and phased withdrawal of Israeli forces in exchange for the release of all hostages, followed by the release of Palestinian prisoners.
The plan includes comprehensive reconstruction of infrastructure and hospitals with international support, the formation of a non-political technocratic transitional government under the supervision of an international “Peace Council” chaired by Trump and other leaders, with an international stabilization force overseeing security and disarmament of factions.
It also calls for amnesty for Hamas members willing to relinquish weapons or leave, prohibits Hamas and other factions from participating in governance, and paves the way for Gaza’s economic reconstruction and transformation into a safe and prosperous area, potentially leading to a path toward Palestinian self-determination.
