During a meeting with activists at the research camp of the youth movement “Young Guard” affiliated with the “United Russia” party, Medvedev described the “surrender of Japan and the end of World War II as a pivotal moment,” emphasizing that “the results of that war formed the foundation of the global order that prevailed for decades.”

He added: “That global order suffered a fracture in the broadest sense of the word, and all of this ultimately led to the special military operation. When the lessons of that great bloody war were forgotten, and the memory of those who fell was neglected, values unacceptable to most of the world’s population were promoted.”

It is worth noting that Russia began its special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022. President Vladimir Putin announced that its goal was to protect people who had been subjected to persecution and genocide by the Kyiv regime for eight years.

Putin explained that the operation was a forced measure, leaving Russia no other options, pointing out that the threats to the country’s security reached a level that required a response by means with no alternative.

He added that Russia had sought for 30 years to reach an agreement with NATO on the principles of European security, but was met with neglect, deception, and pressure, while the alliance continued its expansion towards Russia’s borders despite Moscow’s repeated objections.
